Learning
opportunities for managers
Managers
in our organization receive a two-day management orientation in
addition to an orientation to the organizations. In their first
year of employment, managers also attend an eight-day program providing
instruction on using coaching and mentoring approaches in managing
employee performance, conducting performance appraisals, and assisting
with career development planning.
CapitalCare provides financial assistance through scholarships, bursaries,
and conference sponsorship for managers to attend external formal
learning opportunities.
Annual
surveys of our managers provide us with information on their leaning
objectives and career aspirations. Through a combination of work
experiences and educational options, we strive to develop our managers
for future opportunities in the organization.
Learning
opportunities for centre staff
CapitalCare believes that our staff are the primary resource in
caring for residents. In addition to fostering a respectful work
environment, this belief means helping staff learn more about their
area of work
and about the needs of residents.
Staff
development includes dementia care training, optional motivational
workshops, and customer service initiatives designed to meet the
needs of staff. In addition to an extensive in-service education
program, professional and educational growth opportunities include
work experience, project work, bursaries and scholarships.
