Message from the Chief Executive Officer
Welcome!
This website will introduce you to the many and varied accommodation
choices, programs, and services offered by CapitalCare within the Capital Health region.
During the past several years CapitalCare has built new care facilities
and introduced numerous new programs. The organization has evolved
in size and complexity to respond to increased demand and care
needs of people in the Capital Health region.
We now operate 11 care sites in Edmonton and Sherwood Park, ranging from the
more traditional long-term care to innovative housing options such
as independent living suites at the Laurier Houses and specialized
Alzheimer care centres. Over 2,900 staff members provide care and
services to more than 1,400 residents and to over
300 clients in our day programs.
Our core mandate is to provide a care environment that respects the
dignity of the individual and promotes independence and choices. Our
residents and clients include people from all walks of life who
require nursing care and assistance with almost all activities of
daily living.
One of our values is to ensure our staff have up to date
information on best practices. To that end we have an active staff education program and our research department
conducts studies in conjunction with colleges and universities.
This activity complements
the full-time, 24-hour bedside care and part-time day care for seniors
in the community provided by CapitalCare.
We believe that partnerships are necessary to reach our vision, "We are
a community of excellence in continuing care: teaching, researching
and learning to enhance quality of life." We are working hard to establish community links with educational
institutions, service clubs, schools, senior's groups,
neighbourhoods and volunteers.
As you explore our web site, I am confident
that you will sense the pride we have in meeting this commitment.
In fact, you may want to join us in fulfilling our mission.
Enjoy your visit with us.
