Quality of
life through dining...what does it look like? How do we get
there?
Consider
the importance of food in the natural rhythm of each of our
days. Consider the importance of making meaningful choices in
our lives.
Consider
the importance of experiencing our individual daily pleasures to
our quality of life. Consider the importance of enjoying a
quality dining experience to our quality of life.
This
presentation will identify opportunities for families,
volunteers and advocates of residents to work with staff to
enhance each resident's quality of life through person centred
dining. Explore the important role of families and volunteers
in making this happen.

In this interactive session, you
will learn how Schlegel Villages, a senior living organization
with 11 communities in southern Ontario, worked in partnership
with residents, family members, volunteers, and team members
from every level of the organization to enhance the delivery of
resident-centred care and services and improve quality of life.
Using an approach known as
Appreciative Inquiry, the community members united to discover
their strengths, share their dreams for a more ideal future, put
their dreams into words, and develop action steps to turn their
dreams into realities.
Delegates will learn about the
culture change movement in long-term care and will identify
ideas and tools to help with the culture change journey.
