The Regional Palliative Care Program provides special care to people
in the Capital Health region in homes, acute care hospitals or continuing
care centres. The Palliative Hospice opened at
Norwood
on May 11, 1995.
Palliative care is the special care of a person whose disease no
longer responds to treatment aimed at a cure. Palliative care does
not hasten or delay death. The most important goal is to provide
as much freedom as possible from suffering by giving physical, emotional,
mental and spiritual care as well as comfort and compassion to the
patient, family and friends.

The
care
