Accreditation

CapitalCare is accredited by Accreditation Canada for 2014 – 2017, an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets standards for quality and safety in health care. CapitalCare was assessed in the following areas: leadership; client safety; education and training; emergency preparedness; physical environment; human capital; communication; infection control; and medication management. Surveyors took notice of our focus on quality practices while providing a home-like environment, which validates our progress in the area of person-centred care. Our infection control practices also received high praise.

Partners in Injury Reduction

In 2013, CapitalCare's focus on safety earned us a Certificate of Recognition from Alberta Human Services and the Workers’ Compensation Board along with a rebate for $186,000 for our success in the Partners in Injury Reduction Program — an achievement we have received for 12 consecutive years. In order to maintain the Certificate of Recognition, an overall audit score of 80 per cent or greater is required. CapitalCare's overall score was 91 per cent. This rebate benefits not only the employees, but the residents and clients as well. Results of the 2016 audit are expected this Fall.
