Are you an HCA who wants to be an LPN? Are you a food service attendant who wants to be a cook? Do you want to step forward in your career? Education funding is available to support you as you pursue your goals!
CapitalCare’s Post Secondary Education Funding Program supports staff enrolled in work-related programs at accredited post-secondary institutions. Through the generous support of the CapitalCare Foundation and its donors, up to $20,000 is disbursed to staff who are registered in programs related to maintenance, nursing, social work, physiotherapy and many others.
Ryan Cramp, a maintenance worker at the Kipnes Centre for Veterans, received a post secondary education bursary in 2025 which supported him as he took a power engineering course at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).

“I currently work as a Maintenance ii, but after completing my course I will qualify for Maintenance iii. This involves being certified by the Alberta Boilers Safety Association (ABSA), which unlocks countless opportunities to implement my new skills,” said Ryan.
In his power engineering course, Ryan learns more about the systems he encounters daily at CapitalCare centres, which helps him feel like a more competent building operator. Servicing CapitalCare centres is incredibly fulfilling work to Ryan because even though his work might be out of the limelight, he’s proud to provide essential services that allow CapitalCare residents to enjoy healthy spaces.
He continues to focus on learning and growing as he strives toward his 5th class power engineering ticket. “I decided to pursue further education because I have a hunger for knowledge. I also want to become a competent building operator and represent CapitalCare whilst doing so,” says Ryan.
“It motivates me knowing CapitalCare is willing to support my education goals. The bursary application process was straightforward and receiving it felt like a great recognition of my hard work over the years. If you’re thinking of applying for the bursary, go for it. You won’t regret putting in the effort.”
